Meet Dr. Carolyn Sheenan

Improving Lives through Oral Health

Dentistry plays an important role in people’s overall well-being. The first signs of many health issues appear in the mouth. Since dentists see patients every six months, we play a key role in noticing minor changes in a patient’s health.

As a dentist, I am passionate about providing the highest quality care to my patients. They deserve nothing less. I focus on each person’s unique clinical and personal concerns, treating the whole person, not just their teeth. I strive to form a personal bond with each patient. Together, we work toward the common goal of optimal oral health and a smile they love.

I’ve assembled an exceptional team. We all share the same philosophy: YOU, our patients, come FIRST! Time and time again, patients tell us they’ve never been to an office like ours. That kind of feedback makes us feel great. It’s a wonderful cycle of mutual trust and respect.

Education

  • Doctorate of Dental Medicine, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Boston MA
  • Certificate of Advanced General Dentistry a one year residency, Boston University, Boston MA

While completing my residency at Boston University, I taught during the evening clinic at Tufts.

A large part of my commitment to my patients and my profession is continuing dental education. I remain current on the newest techniques and technologies, through seminars, lectures, and conferences. By learning from the top leaders in my profession and researchers in oral healthcare, I ensure my patients receive the best care.

I’ve completed many courses in oral cancer pathology and diagnosis, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, implant dentistry, and pediatric dental care.

In the Community

Except for my years of education, Dunellen is where I have been my entire life, so my patients are very special to me. New Jersey as a whole is a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

I am very involved with my children and family as well as many community based organizations. I was a charter member of the Dunellen Education Foundation, I give annual seminars at the Cancer Wellness Center in Pluckemin, N.J. I have been involved in fundraising for the Summit Speech School, a wonderful school for profoundly deaf children. I’m also active in our local schools throughout the year, but especially during Dental Health Month.

Personal Life

I grew up in Dunellen, literally steps from the door of the practice. In fact, our office is in the home where my once grandparents lived! We renovated the building in 1992 when I returned home from Boston to open my practice.  It serves as a lovely, bright, and welcoming space for our patients.

My husband and I met in dental school and married in 1995. I have two wonderful daughters who amaze me every day with their kindness and positive spirits. Our family enjoys our Borzoi – that’s a Russian Wolf Hound – who is a love. I have an incredible family who mean the world to me.

We all love the beach, so when we’re not busy at the office, that’s where you’ll find us. We enjoy playing tennis and kayaking in the bay. My girls have recently taken up running and are miles ahead of me already, in a sport I’ve always enjoyed!
